Our mission is to save lives and create cultural safety, by providing compassionate, efficient, and spiritually inclined support to humanity. We aim to meet people where they are at, de-stigmatize mental health, and foster long term relationships with our peers and community. As a group of lived experience individuals, we strive to serve all nations and contribute to the well being of individuals across diverse cultures.

Kandu was founded in 2019 by a group of community members who recognized the need for a local organization dedicated to helping the vulnerable individuals in the Okanagan region. Since then, we have grown into a thriving nonprofit, serving hundreds of individuals each year.

We are grateful to work in collaboration with a network of organizations that help us provide the best possible support to our clients. Our collaborators include the Central Okanagan Food Bank, Salvation Army, Starbucks, Interior Health,First Nations Health Authority, PAN, Dr. Peter Centre, University of Victoria, West Coast LEAF and multiple peer lead groups across BC
